Their structural organization, semantic relations and cognitive mechanisms of term creation are considered. The main word-formation models and their influence on the categorization of military reality are identified. The study is based on structural onomasiological, cognitive and comparative methods of analysis. The relevance of the study is stipulated by the need for a deeper understanding of the principles of military terms formation. The study of word-formation nests allows us to identify systemic connections between words, trace the patterns of derivational processes and understand the cognitive mechanisms of professional vocabulary formation. The aim of the article is to conduct a linguistic and cognitive analysis of word-formation nests in Hungarian and Ukrainian military terminology, to determine their structural organization, semantic relations and cognitive foundations of formation. It has been found that a significant number of military terms in Ukrainian and Hungarian form word-formation pairs, i.e. the minimum units of a word-formation nest. The vast majority of such military terms are represented by the two-zone substantive-adjective paradigm. A relatively large group of word-formation nests is represented by the three-zone substantive-adjective-verbal paradigm in both Ukrainian and Hungarian. The most numerous group of word-formation nests in Ukrainian military terminology is represented by poly-zone substantive-adjective-verbal paradigms. In Hungarian, derivatives derived from composite formations are widely represented, which is not typical for the Ukrainian military terminology. The obtained results contribute to a deeper understanding of term formation processes and may be useful for further research in the field of linguistics and military communication.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4692 CHALLENGES IN DEVELOPING STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS IN THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE OF UKRAINE IN 2005–2013 2025-05-12T11:21:21+03:00 Valentyn Zahreba [email protected]
Relevance of the research is driven by socio-political factors and the political instability of the 2005–2013 period, which significantly affected Ukraine’s defense policy. During this period, Ukraine intensified its cooperation with NATO and began implementing modern strategic communication approaches. Meanwhile, Russian state institutions and pro-Russian political forces within Ukraine sought to influence public opinion through information and psychological operations. The period from 2005 to 2013 marked the formative stage of strategic communications within the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and preceded both the Russian hybrid aggression of 2014 and the full- scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The aim of the article is to analyse the development and implementation of strategic communications by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine during 2005–2013, identifying key shortcomings and structural factors that hindered the formation of a full-fledged communication strategy prior to the Russian aggression in 2014. The article examines international agreements, the Ukrainian legal framework — including presidential decrees — and initiatives that shaped communication efforts in the context of Euro-Atlantic integration.Examples of Russian information and psychological operations against Ukraine are analysed, particularly those linked to the Sea Breeze military exercises and the events surrounding Tuzla Island. The main reasons for the low effectiveness of strategic communications are identified as institutional inconsistency, lack of experience, shortage of qualified personnel, and the absence of clear legal regulation. The conclusions indicate that the period 2005–2013 was marked by a lack of systematic approach to communication strategy in the defence sector, which contributed to the state’s vulnerability at the onset of the 2014 Russian armed aggression. Further research should focus on the transformation of the Ministry’s strategic communications after 2014.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4693 USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES TO ANALYZE COMMUNICATION PROCESSES IN SOCIAL NETWORKS 2025-05-12T11:24:03+03:00 Nataliia Zozulia [email protected] Valentyna Stiekolshchykova [email protected] Vira Babych [email protected]
The article examines the use of digital technologies to analyze communication processes in social networks. In today's information society, social media have become one of the main platforms for communication, dissemination of information and formation of public opinion, which necessitates a comprehensive study of the possibilities and limitations of using digital technologies to analyze communication processes in social media, with a view to developing effective approaches to collecting, processing and interpreting communication data in the digital space. The author analyzes the latest research and publications on the use of digital technologies to analyze communication processes in social media, which allowed determining the growing interest of scholars in this topic. The purpose of the article is to study the potential and effectiveness of digital technologies for analyzing communication processes in social media, in particular, to identify tools, methods and approaches which allow qualitative and quantitative assessment of the structure, dynamics and content of digital communications in the network environment. It is emphasized that digital technologies not only enhance the possibilities of analyzing communication, but also change the very paradigm of humanitarian research, transforming it into a quantitative, qualitative, dynamic and more accurate process. Modern methods of collecting, processing, and interpreting digital data, including automated text analysis tools, network analysis (SNA), thematic modeling, and information visualization, are considered. Particular attention is paid to the use of such platforms as Gephi, Tableau, Google NLP, and methodological approaches of digital humanities. A comparative analysis of digital tools for analyzing communications in social networks is carried out. It is concluded that digital technologies open up new horizons for in-depth and multidimensional analysis of communication processes in social networks. Modern tools for text analysis, network interaction, data visualization, and tone analysis provide an effective combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches, which allows researchers to obtain both a statistical and semantic picture of digital communication.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4694 INFORMATION AND ANALYTICAL ACTIVITIES IN THE AGE OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: NEW TOOLS AND METHODOLOGIES 2025-05-12T11:32:53+03:00 Nataliia Zozulia [email protected] Valentyna Stiekolshchykova [email protected] Nataliia Shoturma [email protected]
Digital transformation is radically changing information and analytical activities (IA), integrating new technologies, tools and methodologies. The article analyses the meaning, emotional and cultural connotations associated with this concept in the minds of Slovak speakers. The peculiarities of the formation of the associative field of the concept MONEY through the prism of the Slovak linguistic picture of the world of young people are considered, the main semantic groups of associations, their frequency and connection with socio-cultural realities are determined. The relevance of studying the concept of MONEY is due to its key role in society and its impact on economic, social, cultural and psychological processes. Money is not only a means of exchange and an economic instrument, but also an important cognitive phenomenon that shapes people's values, behaviour and worldview. The purpose of the article is to study the linguistic associations related to the concept of MONEY in the minds of Slovak youth and to identify its cognitive, semantic and cultural features. The article is aimed at analysing the field of this concept by conducting an association experiment among native speakers of the Slovak language, which allowed us to determine which emotional, social and economic connotations prevail in the minds of Slovak-speaking respondents. The modelling of the structure of the MONEY concept shows that in the minds of Slovak youth, the information content plays a major role, based on the cognitive feature of livelihood. The figurative component is not extensive. The most extensive is the interpretive field. The most extensive and diverse is the utilitarian zone, which is closely related to the encyclopaedic zone, and the main feature for Slovaks is blahobyt/materiálna hodnota. Thus, the concept of MONEY in the minds of Slovak youth has predominantly positive connotations, is associated with wealth, prosperity, opportunities, and is closely linked to the understanding of the need to earn money. This demonstrates the pragmatic approach of young people to the financial sphere, where money is perceived not only as a means of achieving material comfort, but also as the result of personal effort and work.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4696 INTERMEDIAL APPROACH TO DESTROYING STEREOTYPES ABOUT THE ACTIVITIES OF CHINESE MASS MEDIA (IN THE CONTEXT OF THE RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN WAR) 2025-05-12T11:41:41+03:00 Oksana Kosiuk [email protected]
It is difficult to find a more pressing problem than the Chinese media (in the broadest sense of the word – including newspapers, magazines, file storage, blogs, etc.) today, because the fate of the unstable world depends on the positions and activities of these mediators of the opinions of the Chinese politicians and population. And if the information sphere of other countries is mostly filled with hopes and assumptions about China’s prospects and strategies, the media space of the Celestial Empire is the only primary source and carrier of the most reliable data, the production of which, unfortunately, is still perceived in a stereotypical way: with references to secrecy, cooperation with Russia and the communist regime. Meanwhile, even a brief review of the sites shows radically the opposite: informative richness, reliability, balance, and strict adherence to international standards. Focusing on the media, which is the target of many negative accusations, can completely dispel doubts. The state media, of course, are adjusting to the system: the front pages often appear in the form of reports and speeches by Chinese President Xi Jinping and other biased and editorialized materials, but the content of the media of all forms of ownership (unlike Syria, Iran, Azerbaijan, etc.) is quite high quality. The problem is mainly that the potential readership is not only in the grip of stereotypes, but is also media illiterate because it is unable to perceive pretexts, subtexts, contexts, intertexts. They should keep in mind at least the following: when producing information, journalism puts it into the genre of three blocks, among which the informational one (a note, a report, an interview, a news article) claims to state facts and absolute reliability; analytical (correspondence, a commentary article, a review, a press conference, a talk show) requires the presence of opposition speakers and a balance of opinions (a common substitute is the use of non-experts and lack of parity); journalistic (a critical review, a sketch, an essay and its varieties – a documentary, a squib, a pamphlet) can naturally contain fiction, fakes, author’s approaches, etc. So, for example, documentaries should not be expected to tell the truth. This genre is used when it is necessary to put pressure on emotions and mislead. This is exactly what we are observing in situations of legally declared «cooperation» between Chinese and Russian journalists while covering the war in Ukraine.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4697 FORMING THE AUTONOMY OF FUTURE TRANSLATORS IN THE FIELD OF PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION BASED ON THE ELECTRONIC EDUCATIONAL PLATFORM MOODLE 2025-05-12T11:44:18+03:00 Lyudmila Kraynyak [email protected] Olga Bodnar [email protected] Oleksandra Duda [email protected]
The article is an attempt to theoretically substantiate, develop and experimentally test the methodology for forming the autonomy of future translators in the field of professional communication based on the MOODLE electronic educational platform. The content of the components of the methodology for forming the autonomy of translators in the field of professional communication using the MOODLE electronic educational platform is determined and the pedagogical conditions for its implementation are identified, namely: formation and development of students’ value attitude to autonomous activity, organization of students’ preparation for autonomous work on the MOODLE electronic educational platform, ensuring professional readiness and motivation of the teacher to work with the MOODLE electronic educational platform. A set of exercises has been created for posting on the MOODLE electronic educational platform for independent study of general scientific vocabulary, grammar characteristic of the scientific style of speech, translation of texts of different genres of special discourse. The methodology developed by the authors for developing the autonomy of future translators in the field of professional communication on the basis of the MOODLE electronic educational platform is based on axiological, personal, activity, competence and modular approaches. It includes the stages of self-diagnosis, cognitive and creative ones, and evaluation. The proposed algorithm includes the following components: the content of the educational material presented in six professional training modules, each of which is divided into lexical, grammatical and translation parts; foreign language lexical items selected in accordance with the requirements for training translators of professionally oriented discourse; grammatical phenomena that cause difficulties in translating special discourse; consistent work on the formation and development of autonomous activity skills, which is implemented through tests, questionnaires, surveys and a set of exercises that includes language, pre-language, training and control exercises.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4698 THE IMPACT OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MEDIA SPACE: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF UKRAINIAN AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE 2025-05-12T11:48:37+03:00 Mykola Losinsky [email protected]
The impact of new technologies on the development of the modern media industry is analyzed, in particular, by comparing Ukrainian and international experience. Important innovations are considered, such as digital platforms, artificial intelligence and personalization algorithms, which are changing the approach to the creation, distribution and consumption of content. The transformation of traditional journalism, the growing popularity of video content and social networks as key communication channels, as well as new problems, including disinformation and ethical dilemmas, are noted. The global trend of automation of the media is analyzed separately, including the introduction of artificial intelligence for information collection and analysis, the creation of personalized news content and its impact on consumers. Special attention is paid to the positive and negative aspects of these processes, in particular, changes in the quality of journalism, the objectivity of information, adaptation to new standards of content perception.A comparison of international experience with the situation in Ukraine shows the influence of infrastructural, economic and political factors on the introduction of digital technologies in the media. In the Ukrainian context, the specifics of the digital transformation of local media are highlighted, in particular the issues of resource provision, legal regulation and adaptation to global changes. The article also raises the question of the opportunities and challenges that digitization opens up for Ukrainian media in the fight for audience attention in the context of global competition. The successful integration of new technologies into the media sector requires a systemic approach, such as the development of high-quality infrastructure, support for independent journalism and the establishment of ethical standards in the digital age. The article allows us to assess the prospects for the development of the global and Ukrainian media space, as well as clarify important tasks associated with the rapid pace of technological progress.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4699 JOURNALISM EDUCATION IN UKRAINE: CURRENT SITUATION AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT 2025-05-12T11:51:17+03:00 Liudmyla Maskaleva [email protected]
This paper examines the problem of training journalistic personnel in Ukraine in the context of rapid changes in the media landscape. The purpose of the study is to analyze modern educational programs in the field of journalism and their compliance with the requirements of the modern information space, as well as to identify key aspects that contribute to improving the quality of training specialists. The research methodology is based on a comprehensive analysis of existing educational standards, interviews with teachers and students, as well as a comparative analysis of international experience in training journalists. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used to collect empirical data, which allowed us to obtain a complete picture of the challenges facing educational institutions in Ukraine. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the integration of new approaches to teaching journalism in Ukraine, as well as in the development of recommendations for improving curricula taking into account global trends in the media sphere. The study revealed insufficient adaptation of educational programs to the requirements of digitalization and media literacy, which significantly affects the quality of training specialists. In the conclusions, the author justifies the need to reform curricula, introduce innovative teaching methods, and develop partnerships between higher education institutions and media organizations to improve the level of professional training of students.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4700 THE ROLE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN JOURNALISM: TRENDS AND CHALLENGES OF INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE 2025-05-12T11:54:03+03:00 Viktor Pasіchnyk [email protected]
The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming modern journalism spans all stages of the media process, from data collection to distribution. Key trends in decommunization include the automation of information collection and analysis that can process large amounts of data at high speed, the creation of personalized content to meet the needs of different audiences, and the use of algorithms to predict trends in information and analyze public sentiment. The integration of these technologies is changing the way we create news and interact with our audiences. The benefits of AI include the decommunization of journalists, including by automating daily operations, optimizing content strategies by analyzing behavioral data, and expanding classroom interaction through personalized information delivery. Prominent media organizations in various countries are already using these technologies to create high-quality content, predict changes in audience behavior, and expand their communication channels.Despite the obvious benefits, integration with AI has many challenges. In particular, ethical issues related to algorithmic transparency, the possibility of discrimination or distortion of facts in automated processes and the risk of loss of editorial independence remain important issues for audience trust in content created using automated systems and ensuring compliance with journalistic standards in the digital age.International experience shows different approaches to the implementation of artificial intelligence in the media.Countries with developed media infrastructure, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, China and the European Union, have successfully used artificial intelligence technologies to improve their information products and their distribution. At the same time, in developing countries, the possibilities for the implementation of such technologies are often limited due to economic, infrastructural and legal factors.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4701 GENRE CLASSIFICATION OF LITERATURE BASED ON METRICS USING LARGE LANGUAGE MODELS 2025-05-12T11:57:33+03:00 Volodymyr Pasichnyk [email protected] Maksym Yaromych [email protected]
The paper explores the use of large language models (LLMs) for literary genre classification by employing metric-based parameterization and genre ontologies. The study examines the theoretical foundations of genre classification, including traditional approaches to defining genres and modern algorithmic methods that leverage large language models. Particular attention is paid to the selection of metrics for text parameterization, including the level of formality, depth of technical analysis, methodological approach, target audience, application domain, type of research data, presence of empirical results, and methods of information visualization. The paper proposes a multi-level classification system that allows for a more precise hierarchical structuring of genre features. The aim of this study is to examine the main metrics for parametrizing literary genre classification and to conduct a practical experiment on the classification of scientific papers in the field of "artificial intelligence." The scientific novelty of the article lies in the development and application of a comprehensive parametrization of literary genres based on clearly defined metrics, enabling the use of large language models for automated genre classification. As part of the study, a practical experiment was conducted on genre classification using 10 academic papers in the field of artificial intelligence. The analysis was performed using GPT-4o and associated machine learning algorithms. The results confirmed the effectiveness of text parameterization based on predefined metrics and their application for automated classification. It was found that large language models exhibit high accuracy in identifying key textual characteristics but struggle with recognizing hybrid genres and providing explainable classification decisions. The primary challenges of automated genre classification include blurred genre boundaries, the influence of training data on classification outcomes, the need to enhance the explainability of classification decisions, and the adaptation of models to the specifics of different genres. The paper suggests directions for further research, such as the integration of genre ontologies, improvements in text parameterization, and the development of algorithms capable of handling multi-level genre structures. Thus, this study confirms the potential of large language models for automated literary genre classification based on text metrics. However, further refinement of classification algorithms and approaches to text parameterization is required to achieve higher accuracy and reliability.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4702 UKRAINIAN AND ENGLISH ON THE INTERNET: THE ROLE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT 2025-05-12T12:01:50+03:00 Irina Fridrik [email protected] Hanna Vavrychyna [email protected]
The study examines the role of social media in the process of learning English and international communication. It is emphasized that in extreme conditions, social media allow users to establish contacts, communicate with each other, share news, photos, audio and video content, experiences, useful links, and express their own opinions in both Ukrainian and English. This definitely expands the scope of information exchange and develops the language context. YouTube, Telegram, and Facebook remain the most stable services. Social media have become the most active networks in the context of special policies in response to the escalation of the war in Ukraine. Additional opportunities were created to protect the personal data of Ukrainians, content monitoring was intensified, the team of Ukrainian language speakers was expanded, and the distribution of political advertising was banned.International communication and educational resources are provided through a chronological feed, simple interface, active transition to the state communication network, multifunctional chatbots, speed of communication, etc. Multidirectional international communication in social media contributes to the development of Ukraine’s quality and popularity, and the use of well-known tools to represent it helps to recognize and consolidate the potential of Ukrainians on the world stage. The more Ukrainians express national issues through social media, the more representatives of other countries may become interested in Ukrainian culture, the political situation in Ukraine, and Ukraine’s status on the political and diplomatic maps of the world.Such steps, in turn, will help to spread information and consolidate Ukrainians as a nation on these maps. This is one of the keys to mutual attention and respect between representatives of different countries. It can also be noted that active international interaction and the exchange of social communication elements between different states contributes to increasing trust and support among the world’s population. It is also argued that language transformations facilitate user interaction, making communication faster and more accessible. On the other hand.Traditional language norms are changing in social media. Users must maintain a balance between innovation and adherence to classical language norms, especially in formal and professional contexts. Therefore, analyzing the impact of digital platforms in Ukrainian and English communication is an important factor in the formation of new language systems.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025 https://journals.maup.com.ua/index.php/philology/article/view/4703 ENGLISH-LANGUAGE ADVERTISING HUMOR 2025-05-12T12:05:29+03:00 Oleg Kharchenko [email protected]
This article presents stylistic, cognitive and pragmatic analyses of a sample of English-language jokes about advertising and its variants. An analysis of the forms of 115 jokes sourced from four English-language websites shows that the most frequent forms of jokes about advertising are question/answer formats (60.8%), one-liner jokes (39.2%). A detailed study of 20 advertising-related jokes highlights the most frequent use of stylistic devices such as puns, fake enthusiasm, paraprosdokian, pastiche, bathos and irony. Other techniques include personified and zoomorphic metaphors, nonstandard similes, false argumentation (enthymeme), antithesis, are involved. From a cognitive perspective, the jokes apply cognitive mechanisms like the «deformation professionale», «von Restorff pattern», «distinct contrast» and «easel» patterns, switching of which leads to the incongruity mechanism and comic effect. Pragmatically, these jokes serve multiple purposes: they help students to relieve psychological stress, encourage creative and critical thinking, entertain, introduce readers to English-speaking advertising practices and techniques, and foster an appreciation of humor and irony. Besides, they motivate people to be successful and confident, while shaping stereotypical images of English-speaking advertising professionals, contributing to the development of intercultural and cultural competences. The advertising jokes form the stereotypical image of an advertising professional as a creative and smart, multifunctional and cynical, rude and highly skilled specialist in philology and psychology. The stereotypical image of an advertising professional carries out a number of functions.1. The function of emotional trigger, because it tunes the audience into humorous tonality. 2. The function of the fast assimilation of the created image and simplified perception of it. 3. The function of funny labeling of advertising specialists. 4. The linguistic function of transforming the language towards expressivity and flexibility.
2025-03-27T00:00:00+02:00 Copyright (c) 2025
