PROMINENT ORGANIZERS OF INTELLIGENCE DURING THE TIME OF HETMAN BOHDAN KHMELNYTSKY

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of intelligence activities during the National Liberation Movement (1648-1657). Prominent intelligence figures who were engaged in the organization of intelligence activities during the hetmanship of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi at the initial stage of the National Liberation War of the mid-17th century are considered. The main emphasis is on the analysis of the intelligence activities of prominent persons who were engaged in and organized the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people. Thanks to their talent, the Cossacks quickly responded to changes in the military and political situation: seized the initiative, diverted the enemy's forces to the peripheral theaters of war and achieved success on the battlefield. It was the intelligence organizers who planned and conducted large-scale intelligence operations outside their own territories, which significantly weakened the defense capabilities of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The best and most talented Cossacks were recruited for the organization of intelligence activities, who united around a single center for directing intelligence activities, which contributed to the formation of a special service of the state. A conclusion was made about the extremely important role of the heads of intelligence units during the Hetmanship of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, which laid the foundations for the formation of the national special service of Ukraine.
