EXPERIENCE IN IMPLEMENTING EFFECTIVE METHODS FOR DEVELOPING FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE AMONG HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS

Abstract

In the course of the study, the author analyses contemporary scientific approaches to the development of foreign language communicative competence among higher education students, examines the definitions of ‘competence’ and ‘competency’, and summarises experience in implementing effective methods of foreign language teaching in higher education institutions. It is noted that foreign language communicative competence is a key component of the professional training of future specialists, as it ensures their ability to engage in effective intercultural interaction, professional mobility and integration into a globalised educational and professional environment. The relevance of the study stems from the need to modernise the educational process in the context of digitalisation, globalisation and increasing demands on the level of foreign language training for specialists. Contemporary challenges in the educational environment require the introduction of innovative teaching methods focused on the development of practical language skills, critical thinking and the autonomy of learners. The research methodology involved the use of systemic, competence-based and activity-based approaches, which enabled a comprehensive examination of the process of developing foreign language communicative competence. The study employed methods of analysis and synthesis of academic sources, as well as a comparative analysis of contemporary pedagogical technologies. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the systematisation and justification of effective methods for developing foreign language communicative competence, taking into account contemporary educational trends, in particular digitalisation, personalised learning and the use of innovative technologies.
The study found that the most effective approaches are communicative, project-based and interactive teaching, as well as the immersion method, which ensure the activation of learners’ speech activity and the development of practical foreign language communication skills.
