INTERPRETATION OF CERTAIN CATEGORIES IN THE ASPECT OF ENSURING ECONOMIC SECURITY

Abstract

The development of the concept of economic security at different hierarchical levels requires the creation of a system to ensure it, involves identifying and taking into account ways to prevent or reduce the influence of danger factors, risks and threats to the economic interests of a person, the state, and economic entities. Analyzing various destructive factors affecting the safety of economic interests, one should first of all clearly understand the essence of the relevant categories, determine their difference and relationship. The purpose of the study is to clarify the meaning of certain terms used in security strategic documents and in literary sources, to demonstrate their heterogeneity when used in regulatory and scientific discourse. The result of the scientific article is a summary of the review of the scientific literature regarding the understanding of the content of individual terminologies used in the scientific and legal doctrine. On the basis of a complex scientific study and comparison of the content of such basic categories of the theory of national security as “risk”, “threat” and “danger”, it was concluded that despite the semantic similarity of the specified terminologies, each of them has its own semantic content and defines a different degree the possibility of negative consequences: “danger” is the probability of causing damage to the object of economic security, which is a dynamic, variable category, depending on specific circumstances and conditions; “threat” to the security of the state, business entity, and individuals is characterized by the presence of negative factors and the real possibility of their influence, is the most likely prerequisite for causing damage to the specified objects of influence; “risk” is a condition for the emergence of a probable security threat.
