Abstract

The article provides an analysis of data from a sociological study conducted in May 2024 among students of the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management (Kyiv) aimed at identifying pathways to self-realization among students. The study utilized a survey method among first-year students at IAPM. Disciplines in technical, natural, humanitarian, and social sciences were covered. Prior to the study, an expert survey provided a basis for interpreting various indicators. Were examined several factors that influence students’ efforts in the pursuit of socio-professional self-assertion. These include: factors influencing career choice, focus of effort during education, demand for socio-humanitarian knowledge, and soft skills. Were identified two most influential factors in students’ career choices: personal factors (aptitude and career aspirations) and social motivation factors (prestige and financial well-being). Efforts towards social realization were found to be concentrated outside of the academy. Social realization was found to consist of additional education and social activities. Socio-humanitarian knowledge was affirmed by students as vital in the process of social realization. “Soft skills” are gaining educational popularity among students and are in demand as they elevate personal development. Overall, the search for self-realization among students highlights the significant role of educational components in this process.
