FEATURES OF THE TRANSFORMATION OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION CONTENT FOR FUTURE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20TH- THE BEGINNING OF THE 21ST CENTURY

The article identifies the peculiarities of the transformation of the content of foreign language education for future primary school teachers in the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century in educational institutions in Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to analyse changes in the foreign language training of future teachers. Methodology: analysis of pedagogical and organisational principles and methods of foreign language teaching made it possible to study trends in foreign language teaching and identify factors of change. Analysis of relevant research for the first time, the study concerns foreign language training of future primary school teachers in the context of professional training. Conclusions.It has been proved that the period under study is characterised by a search for principles and methods of foreign language teaching with a focus on improving the level of foreign language proficiency among students of higher education institutions. It has been established that changes in the state’s language policy were the driving force behind the transformation of the content of foreign language training. In the post-Soviet period, especially at the beginning of the 21st century, there was a growing trend in society towards the importance of learning a foreign language as an important means of intercultural communication and an important element of higher pedagogical education. Ukraine’s European integration into the educational space led to a transformation in the content of foreign language training and the emergence of new technologies and methods of teaching foreign languages in Ukrainian educational institutions.
