The formulation of the problem of this study is coordinated by the current development of discursive analysis and at the same time a psychoanalytic approach to the interpretation of poetic text. The purpose of this article was to comprehend the poem of the modern emigrant poetess Dana Ranga, who writes in German. For analysis, the poetic text «Water» was selected, which is part of the book of poems «Wasserbuch», marked by literary prizes and nominations. The Chamisso Prize is awarded to foreign writers and poets or emigrants writing in German. This figure is Dana Ranga, who is of Romanian origin, but chose the German language for poetic creativity. The planned tasks contributed to the implementation of the set goal. The tasks were aimed at exploring the manifestations of nostalgic discursive formations, archetypal connotations of the water element and the search for a lyrical self of transgressive identity in Dana Ranga’s poem «Water». The methodological basis of the study was determined by approaches to discourse from M. Foucault to P. Ricoeur, L. Philips and M. Jorgensen. A significant methodological basis was also determined by the inheritance of the psychoanalytic approach to the study of a work of art. The experience of both the founder of psychoanalysis Z. Freud and the successors of this line in literary criticism was studied, among which it should be noted, first of all, G. Bachelard, J. Rancière, J. Starobinski. The expansion of the purely Freudian reading of the literary work was facilitated, first of all, by the ideas of K. G. Jung. It was the Jungian line that allowed the interpretation of the archetypal connotations of Dana Ranga’s poem «Water». The lyrical plot of «Water» emphasizes the relationship of nostalgic discourse with dreaming and archetypal discursive formations.
