Abstract

The article analyzes gender aspects of the professional psychological selection of candidates for the position of judge, with a specific focus on identifying differences in the psychological characteristics of men and women. The study aims to identify key professionally significant qualities, such as motivational features, stress resistance, emotional stability, and decision-making styles, which influence the effectiveness of judicial responsibilities. Special attention is paid to motivational factors, as they determine the level of interest and internal readiness of candidates to fulfill the professional duties of a judge. It is found that men and women may have different motivational priorities, shaped by both sociocultural and psychological factors. The level of stress resistance of judicial candidates is also considered during the selection process, as it is critical for a judge’s successful performance under high psychological pressure. Gender differences in this area are analyzed in terms of adaptive strategies, stress management capacity, and the development of psychological resilience. Emotional stability is examined as a separate aspect of the study, given its impact on the ability to make balanced decisions and avoid emotional burnout. Genderspecific characteristics of emotional stability are explored in the context of the ability to maintain objectivity, particularly when addressing emotionally complex cases. Decision-making style, which includes speed, analytical approach, and rationale, is also studied with regard to gender differences. The results obtained can serve as a theoretical and practical foundation for improving judicial selection procedures, particularly in ensuring equality and objectivity in evaluating candidates of both genders.
