GENDER DISCRIMINATION AND SOCIAL WORK IN UKRAINE

The article defines gender discrimination as any distinction, exclusion, restriction or advantage based on gender that has or may have the effect of preventing or restricting gender equality in all areas of public life. The main provisions of international legislation, as well as the procedure for implementing the principles of combating gender discrimination in Ukrainian legislation, were analyzed. International and national studies and reports were used to analyze the state of gender discrimination. It is proven that gender discrimination can manifest itself in the context of violations of rights in the fields of labor, education, healthcare, politics, religion, marriage, family or household. The basis for identifying gender discrimination is the conduct of various sociological studies. It is found that gender violence is a specific type of violence that occurs due to the victim's belonging to a certain gender group. Traditionally associated with violence against women, this concept covers a wider range of phenomena. Men can be both subjects of aggression and its objects, especially in the context of armed conflicts or domestic situations. Thus, gender-based violence includes violent acts by both men and women against representatives of both sexes. In the perspective of further research, the need for amendments to the legislation of Ukraine on combating gender-based violence, constant monitoring of the state of qualitative application of legislative and other regulatory acts, development of education, in particular the study of gender policy by future social workers, is outlined.
