У статті досліджується фрагментація глобальної економіки. Ідентифіковано, що більшість науковців схильні до думки, що глобальна економіка стикається з фрагментацією в інституційному, економічному та соціальному аспектах. Стверджується, що збільшення економічної фрагментації не обов’язково зменшує імміграцію, і залишається незрозумілим, чи імміграційна політика завжди має очікуваний ефект. У різних регіонах світу докладають зусилля для зміцнення економічних зв’язків і розширення вільної торгівлі. Також не виявлено жодних слідів системного відступу глобалізації торгівлі внаслідок геополітичних подій. Торговельні зв’язки та ланцюжки поставок продовжують розвиватися з часом, відображаючи економічну та технологічну еволюцію, включаючи адаптацію до геополітичних факторів. Зроблено висновок, що глобальна економічна фрагментація потенційно впливає на макроекономіку.
