Abstract

The aim of the study was to find out the current state of popularization of science in Ukraine during the martial law period, as well as to find out about the promotion of scientific discoveries in Ukraine through the prism of the information society, namely the online platform "Free Science". This study reveals the essence of the role of young scientists of Ukraine in the implementation of scientific projects in extreme conditions, namely war. This is due to the fact that scientific centricity should become the basis of society's ability to cope with complex socio-economic challenges in the life of the state and restore its socio-economic development after the war. After the full-scale invasion of Russia, Ukrainian scientists found themselves in extremely difficult living conditions, either in a safer part of the country, in the occupied territories, or abroad. For those who remain in research, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and psychological stress can dramatically slow research progress. There is limited knowledge about the impact of the war on Ukrainian studies. However, despite all these difficulties, most scientists continue their scientific activities. For those who remain, institutions across Europe and beyond can offer a range of support programmes, such as distance visiting programmes, access to digital libraries and computing resources, and collaborative research grants. The distribution of Ukrainian projects in seven scientific thematic directions was studied: technical, humanitarian, economic, biological, natural, space and agricultural. Leaders were identified among the Institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and institutions of higher education. The distribution of winning projects by region was studied, leaders among them were identified. The work includes the winning projects, an annotation to each of them, approval and implementation (implementation acts, speeches at conferences, scientific publications, etc.). For the scientific justification of the research results of the online platform "Free Science" as a factor in the popularization of science in Ukraine, a statistical, theoretical, and generalization method was used. In spite of the new challenges of the times – first the coronavirus pandemic, now the harsh invasion of Russia on the territory of our state, science remains the driving force of human progress. Since the results of the latest scientific research have once again confirmed the considerable impact on the development of the economy, ecology, medicine, education, social sphere and agriculture and, above all, the security of the state.
