FORMATION OF FUTURE PRESCHOOL TEACHERS’ SKILLS TO ANALYZE CHILDREN’S BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS AS AN ELEMENT OF THEIR PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE

Abstract

In the modern system of professional training of future specialists in preschool education, the formation of skills of complex analysis of a children’s book, in particular its illustrative content, is of particular relevance. Illustrations in children’s literature perform not only aesthetic, but also cognitive, communicative and developmental functions, affecting the imagination, emotional intelligence, formation of artistic taste and moral guidelines of the child. Given this, the ability of the educator to correctly interpret visual material, analyze its relevance to the content of the work, the age characteristics of children and pedagogical tasks is an integral part of their professional competence. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate and identify ways to develop future teachers’ ability to analyze children’s book illustrations as an element of their professional competence. The study used general scientific methods: descriptive – to outline the role of illustrations in children’s literature; analysis – to identify the criteria and parameters of pedagogical analysis; comparative – to consider the types of illustrative support; modeling – in designing the structure of the formation of analytical skills in higher education students; generalization – to systematize the results.The results of the study confirmed that systematic work with illustrations in the educational process contributes to the development of future educators’ ability to critically evaluate works of art, understand their educational potential and select appropriate visual material in practical activities. The study proposed the integration of an interdisciplinary approach, the active involvement of future specialists in the analysis of specific cases, joint discussion and critical reflection on samples of modern and classic children’s books. The conclusion is that the formation of future educators’ ability to analyze children’s book illustrations is an important factor in the professional development of teachers, which increases the effectiveness of educational work with preschool children and ensures the quality implementation of artistic and aesthetic development in preschool education.
