The article defines that education is one of the main institutions that implement a wide range of significant functions and act under the influence of the transformations that are taking place. The peculiarity of education in the modern world is that it becomes the center of reproduction of the most significant innovations of practices that determine the prospects for the development of society. A number of modern global trends in the development of modern education are determined by general world trends and are under the influence of humanitarian problems. It was found that education is embedded in the process of global economic, political, and cultural integration, which has been unfolding in recent decades all over the world. The manifestation of this is the general unification of knowledge, as a result of which there is an exit of national educational systems beyond state borders, the internationalization of education and the formation of a single global educational space and market of educational services. The globalization of education is manifested in the unification of education levels and qualification frameworks, the openness and cross-border nature of education, the ability to receive it from anywhere in the world, the processes of global integration contribute to the formation of entire regions of the unification of national education systems. A clear example of this is the single European educational space, which has been joined by countries that are not only in the EU, but also outside of it. It has been proven that recently, a new powerful impetus to the expansion of the globalization of education is given by information technologies and digitalization of education, which destroy the national boundaries of education in principle, and allow us to talk about the formation of a single global digital educational space, which determines new competitive conditions for all players of the educational market. The consequences of this can have a long-term nature and lead to a new balance of vectors and transform the export potential of the leading education systems. It is substantiated that the globalization of education has become a modern trend in connection with the expansion of the social functions of the state, which has ensured access to it for wide segments of the population, which has led to the transformation of education from elite to mass education. Most likely, the impact can have the opposite side of mass access to education, which is expressed in a decrease in its quality, a certain discrediting of education, especially higher levels, which leads to a decrease in demand for higher education among the population of various countries.
