Abstract

The article is devoted to the results of the analysis of foreign programmes of psychological support for military veterans through their professional integration into society. The analysis of existing works on this issue in domestic psychology has shown that this area of psychological research is relatively new and under-researched. There are some studies related to this issue but they are more focused on addressing other rehabilitation issues, including adaptation, development, correction and compensation of impaired mental functions. The authors of professional integration programmes for veterans in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom demonstrate a deep understanding of the importance of psychological support in the transition of military personnel to civilian life, including the use of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), stress management techniques, group support, psychoeducation, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and the integration of psychological counselling with career development. These programmes are aimed at increasing the level of adaptation, reducing stress, improving emotional well-being, and facilitating the successful professional integration of veterans. The study of these programmes has shown that they can serve as a model for use in Ukraine. The implementation and adaptation of similar programmes in Ukraine should not only be based on best practices but also consider the cultural characteristics and specific needs of Ukrainian veterans. Involvement of qualified scientists, psychologists and therapists, development of infrastructure to provide relevant services, and creation of comprehensive training programmes are key to ensuring successful rehabilitation of veterans. Taking into account international experience and implementing it in the Ukrainian context can significantly contribute to the development of effective strategies for psychological rehabilitation and professional integration of veterans.
