Abstract

Background. The impact of parenting styles on the formation of an individual’s life scripts is a critical issue in contemporary psychological science. Childhood serves as the foundational period where core behavioral patterns, levels of autonomy, and emotional resilience are established. Purpose. This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis and theoretical-empirical substantiation of the relationship between childhood parenting styles and the current life attitudes of adults. Materials and Methods. The study involved 100 respondents aged 20 to 40 years. Empirical data were collected via an original questionnaire developed on the Google Forms platform. Assessment was conducted using a Likert scale. Data analysis utilized descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. Results. The findings indicate that a democratic (authoritative) parenting style positively influences the development of personal autonomy, self-confidence, and independent decision-making skills. Conversely, an authoritarian style is significantly associated with increased levels of anxiety and a high dependence on social approval. The results confirm that emotional support and constructive family interaction play a vital role in forming adaptive life scripts. Conclusions. A democratic parenting style is the most conducive to the development of a psychologically mature and autonomous individual. Excessive control, emotional distance, and lack of support in childhood can negatively affect psychological well-being in adulthood.
