One of the stages in the formation of professional activity is the study of a specialty that requires the acquisition of certain competencies. The purpose of the article is to study the impact of professional speech competence on the formation of professional activity of the manager. With the help of general scientific theoretical methods of analysis, synthesis and abstraction, the model of professional activity of the manager was analyzed and formed. Empirical and statistical methods were used to analyze а degree of interrelation of professional-speech competence with general and special competencies of the future manager, which are reflected in the Standards of Higher Education of Ukraine in the specialty “Management”. Professional activity is the basis for social adaptation, development and self-realization of the individual. In the process of formation of professional activity there is an accumulation of theoretical, practical skills and gaining relevant work experience. Current attitude for building a model of professional activity of the manager, from the standpoint of its mastery in higher education, is based on the use of a competency-based approach. This model assumes that the individual, at the end of a training will have, a set of certain competencies, which were conditionally divided into three groups: general competencies; special competencies; psychological and personal competencies. Conclusions. Рrofessional speech competence is very important for the manager. According to research, almost all general competencies and half of the special competencies of the manager are related to professional speech: professional speech is a prerequisite for the acquisition of other competencies or other competencies are a prerequisite for the acquisition of professional speech.
