RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN COMPONENTS OF SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF HIGHER EDUCATION APPLICANTS

The purpose of the article: to cover the results of a study of the relationship between the components of social and emotional intelligence of higher education applicants to compare the essence of the concepts of “social intelligence” and “emotional intelligence”. Methodology: theoretical analysis, a social intelligence test of J. Guilford and M. O’Sullivan, a emotional intelligence test of N. Hall, Pearson correlation coefficient. Conclusions. The average level of social intelligence components is established in the largest number of respondents, lower than the average or higher than the average, in the smallest – low or high was empirically discovered. The largest number of respondents have higher than the average level of components of emotional intelligence, the smaller – medium or high, the smallest – lower than the average; not have – low. Personalities’ social and emotional intelligence are integrated complexes of its abilities, aimed at successfully solving social interactions. The ability of social intelligence relates both knowledge and understanding of behavior and interactions, as well as other people’s emotions, as well as their own. The ability of emotional intelligence relates to the knowledge and understanding of their emotions and emotions of other people and conscious management of their emotions. It is proved that many of these abilities are statistically significant. Direct and strong are the following connections: the ability to understand the manifestations of non-verbal behavioral expression with emotional awareness and selfmotivation; The ability to understand the manifestations of verbal behavioral expression with emotional awareness, self-motivation, empathy and recognition of other people’s emotions. Reverse and strong are the following connections: the ability to understand other people’s life situations with empathy and recognition of other people’s emotions; the ability to understand the manifestations of verbal behavioral expression with self-motivation, management of their emotions, recognition of other people’s emotions and empathy; the ability to understand the manifestations of verbal behavioral expression with the management of their emotions.
