PROBLEMS OF REFUGEE WOMEN AS A FIELD OF COMMUNICATION RESEARCH

Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of communication tools used by refugee women to establish new social ties and comprehend their traumatic experiences. The relevance of the research topic lies in the need to systematize and comprehend the experience of refugee women during military conflicts. After all, it is women and girls who are most at risk during humanitarian crises and mass displacement, and disproportionately suffer from gender-based and sex-based discrimination and violence. It also seems relevant to investigate whether the image of refugee women in the press has changed from the First World War to the Ukrainian-Russian war, which has become the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II. The study of women’s refugee experience is necessary to understand the processes that take place with Ukrainian women seeking refuge abroad, as well as to comprehend the experience and integration into society of those refugee women who return to Ukraine after staying in the countries to which they were forced to flee the fighting at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. Historical materials, works by Ukrainian and Western scholars, as well as data describing migration processes during the Ukrainian-Russian war, provide an opportunity to study the issue of women’s refugeeism in the context of modern communication and technological changes.
