USING MEDIATION IN THE PROCESS OF TRAINING FUTURE TRANSLATORS

Abstract

The article analyzes the role of mediation in the process of preparing future translators for professional activity, examines the concept of translation and its types. In the process of research, the essence of the personality and the peculiarities of the translator's work are determined. However, it is not enough for a translator to know only vocabulary and grammar; for a high-quality translation, he or she also needs to have mediation skills. The methods of using mediation are also highlighted and its principles are defined. Mediation, as a method of conflict resolution, involves the involvement of a third, neutral party to assist the conflicting parties in developing a voluntary, mutually acceptable solution. In the context of translation, this means the ability to de-escalate, reframe, and focus the parties' attention on their interests. The main goal of the work is to substantiate the role of mediation in the process of training future translators. The article reveals the concept of mediation and the advantages of its effective use in translation activities, in order to ensure confidential and rapid resolution of conflicts in the translation process. This helps maintain or restore business relationships because the process is voluntary and flexible, and participants can independently influence the outcome and find a mutually acceptable solution. The study confirms that the acquisition of mediation skills by translators ensures the prevention of conflicts during translation, the preservation of relationships between the parties, the confidentiality of the process, and the ability for the parties to independently influence the outcome. The results of the experimental study proved that mastering mediation skills by interpreters contributes to effective negotiations between parties of different ethnic cultures.
