INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE AS A KEY COMPONENT OF GERMAN LANGUAGE LEARNING IN THE MODERN EDUCATIONAL SPACE

Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of forming intercultural communicative competence, which is a key component of teaching the German language in the modern educational environment. The problem is posed by the fact that traditional teaching methods still underestimate its potential, reduce culture to country studies and choose the dominance of linguistic competence over intercultural. However, as the analysis of recent research and publications shows, today ICC is an integrative ability of an individual to effectively interact in conditions of cultural diversity, combining knowledge, skills, attitudes and critical cultural awareness, without which it is impossible to become a professional Germanist. The aim of the study was a comprehensive analysis of the features of the formation of ICC based on authentic German-language texts and determining their didactic potential. The results of the study showed that authentic texts of various genres demonstrate the socio-cultural and communicative features of German culture and therefore are productive for the formation of intercultural competence of students. The potential of authentic German-language texts is confirmed due to their richness in cultural information and representation of models of social behavior. It was established that the components of the ICC are presented unevenly: cognitive and behavioral are dominant, and reflective and affective are rarely found. This statement indicates that text materials themselves are not enough for the formation of intercultural competence, because their effectiveness increases many times when the organization of the educational process is methodically justified and aimed at the development of critical thinking, interpretation and intercultural comparison
