Abstract

The proposed article reveals that recently there has been an increase in demand for weapons and military equipment (weapons). due to increasing tensions in international relations and the concentration of a significant number of states on efforts to gain a much greater role in the world order. It is studied that the intensification of competition in the armaments market, the readiness of some countries to strengthen military power under any circumstances and the inconsistency of export control systems that exist in different countries, have led to increased activities of unscrupulous arms exporters. The purpose of the work. The purpose of the article is to analyze the current legal framework that determines the activities of exporters of weapons and military equipment (WEU). Methodology. The article states that the number of arms sales operations that create the basis for armed conflicts has increased. It was found that in this regard, the international community has focused on strengthening control over the movement of weapons. It is proved that the transparent and clear policy of the state in the field of arms trade should be considered one of the most important factors of successful state participation in international relations. Scientific novelty. It is emphasized that the exporting states of weapons should make efforts to harmonize national legislation with international treaties that determine the rules of operation of commercial entities in the arms market. Conclusions. It was stated that the intensification of the struggle between the states for a greater geopolitical role in the multipolar world and the increase of instability in the world objectively create conditions for increasing the scale of trade in arms and military equipment. It is investigated that the threat of conflicts with the use of high-tech weapons, the consequences of which are difficult to predict, forces the international community to take measures to strengthen control over the movement of weapons and prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It is proved that the optimization of the legal framework of state policy in the field of arms trade will strengthen Ukraine’s national security, increase the financial and economic efficiency of the defense industry and create favorable conditions for strengthening partnerships between our country and leading countries.
