PSYCHOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF VASYL ZENKOVSKY’S ANTHROPOLOGICAL VISIONS

Abstract

The relevance of the topic is determined by the need to comprehend the multidimensional nature of personality in the modern world, to search for a harmonious approach to its development and comprehensive understanding. It is V. Zenkovsky who offers a holistic approach to understanding human nature, which integrates spiritual, psychological, and social aspects. His anthropological ideas emphasize the importance of education, which is aimed not only at intellectual development, but also at the formation of the moral and spiritual foundation of the personality. Such an approach to understanding the thinker’s ideas will contribute to the improvement of modern educational systems and popularization of the national psychological heritage. The study uses comparative and hermeneutic methods, as well as methods of systematization and generalization. The comparative method made it possible to compare V. Zenkovsky’s ideas with other psychological concepts. The hermeneutic method provided an interpretation of the thinker’s texts for a deeper understanding of his anthropological and psychological ideas. The method of systematization, focusing on the ordering and structuring of V. Zenkovsky’s ideas, contributed to the conceptualization of his psychological teachings. Generalization, on the other hand, was aimed at drawing general conclusions based on the analysis of the thinker’s individual ideas. Attention was paid both to the main milestones in V. Zenkovsky’s life and to the Western European philosophical and psychological influences that contributed to the conceptualization of his psychological ideas. Research into the thinker’s legacy showed that he sought to unite psychology, pedagogy, philosophy, and religion. This integrative approach contributed to the formation of a projective image of the personality as a dynamic vector of a unique and central element of mental life in such psychological aspects as anthropological and religious. Vasyl Zenkovsky’s anthropological teaching views man as a holistic, spiritually creative being called to grow in freedom, love, and responsibility. The basis of this teaching is the Christian idea of man as the image and likeness of God, who realizes his calling through interaction with God, other people, and the world. In this context, axiological-semantic, personal-moral attitudes, and religious-behavioral practices of the individual are identified as factors of self-awareness, free will, moral and spiritual development, and the integrity and harmony of the individual.
