ACCESS TO DENTAL CARE FOR INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS DURING THE WAR

The purpose of the work is to investigate access to dental care for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the context of the war in Ukraine and to identify the main barriers to providing dental services for this population group.Materials and methods. A comprehensive analysis of scientific and informational sources, statistical data, and regulatory frameworks on medical care for IDPs was conducted. Bibliosemantic, content analysis, analytical, systemic, and sociological (questionnaire-based) methods were used to identify current problems in accessing dental services.Results. The analysis revealed that dental care for IDPs remains insufficient due to a range of objective and subjective factors: lack of permanent residence, limited access to medical facilities, insufficient funding, and a shortage of specialists in host communities. A sociological survey of IDPs in central and western regions of Ukraine showed that more than 60% of respondents had not received dental care in the past year. The main reported barriers included financial inaccessibility, long waiting times, and lack of information about free care programs.Conclusions. To improve access to dental services for IDPs, it is necessary to: 1. Expand government programs for funding dental care for internally displaced persons. 2. Provide mobile dental clinics in regions with large IDP populations. 3. Enhance informational and educational outreach among IDPs about available free dental care services. 4. Strengthen interagency coordination between health authorities, social services, and non-governmental organizations.Dental needs of IDPs should be taken into account when shaping health care policy at the national level, as removing barriers to care will help preserve the overall health of the population during wartime.
